Sierra Vista Promotes Independent Learning Skills

For the 2019-20 school year, Sierra Vista High School is implementing a new skills-based Spartan Success workshop series that will provide students with the opportunity to learn note-taking skills, test-taking strategies and more to ensure their success in high school and beyond.

The workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for five weeks. Workshops will cover the following independent learning skills:

  • Note-taking and referencing (Week 1)
  • Test-taking strategies (Week 2)
  • Interpreting graphs (Week 3)
  • Revising and editing (Week 4 and 5)

Students will improve skills needed for academic success, apply what they learn in real–life settings and while on field trips, and have fun as they learn.

The Spartan Success Workshops are open to all grade levels and will be presented by SVHS staff members Oscar Pierce and Jose Martinez.
